Did you know UAA helps students overcome past academic setbacks with structured support and guidance?

Life circumstances and academic struggles can create barriers to success. These policies provide a structured way for eligible students to refocus, rebuild, and continue their education while maintaining high academic standards.

  • Academic Integrity Comes First
These policies are built on fairness and accountability. Required advisor consultations, waiting periods, and exclusions for grades tied to academic dishonesty ensure they are used appropriately and maintain UAA’s academic standards.
  • A Path to Graduation
Many students encounter setbacks that affect their ability to meet graduation requirements. These policies provide an opportunity to move forward by removing barriers that may otherwise prevent degree completion.
  • Not a Quick Fix, but a Fair Restart
Academic Fresh Start allows students who have been away for a significant period to reset their academic records, while Academic Renewal gives students who have shown improvement the option to exclude past semesters from their GPA calculations. Both policies ensure students are evaluated based on their current abilities, not past struggles.
  • Helping Students Return to Their Education
These policies encourage eligible students to re-engage with their studies after time away, helping them refocus and succeed.
  • Providing the Right Support, When Needed
Personal hardships, unexpected life circumstances, or other challenges can disrupt academic performance. These policies exist for students who truly need them, ensuring that support is available in a structured and responsible way.
  • A Boost for Student Success
Students who persist in their education are more likely to graduate. By offering these policies thoughtfully, UAA supports retention, degree attainment, and long-term student success.

UAA remains committed to student success, academic excellence, and equity. With careful guidance from advisors, these policies provide a responsible path forward for students facing academic obstacles while maintaining the university’s high standards.
